PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a negative electrode material for a lithium secondary battery in which charge and discharge cycle characteristics are improved in the lithium secondary battery of high capacity in which alloy powders having silicon as the main component is used for the negative electrode.SOLUTION: This is the manufacturing method of the negative electrode material for the lithium secondary battery having an immersing treatment process in which the silicon alloy powders containing at least silicon and a metal element A except silicon are immersed into an aqueous solution containing the metal element B smaller in ionization tendency than that of the metal element A as a metal ion and substantially not containing a material to reduce the metal ion. The metal element A contains at least one kind or more selected from a group of cobalt, nickel, copper, and silver, and one kind or more selected from a group of tin, titanium, aluminum, lanthanum, zinc, iron, and indium. This is a metal salt aqueous solution in which the metal element B contains at least one kind or more selected from a group of cobalt, nickel, copper, and silver.
