PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amt. of the ink remaining in a cap having an ink absorbing member provided therein. SOLUTION: The ink absorbing member provided in a cap 4 is formed so as to have a two-layered structure consisting of absorbing members 10, 11 and the density of the absorbing member 11 arranged on the deep side from the contact part of the cap 4 is made lower than that of the absorbing member 10 on the side of the contact part. By this constitution, ink can well pass through the absorbing member 10 to penetrate into the absorbing member 11 in the suction of ink and the amt. of the ink left in the cap can be reduced.
