Playing cards or pieces for use in a game relating to the Highway Code are inscribed or shaped respectively to represent situations arising and factors entailed in road travel. The cards or pieces are divided into five categories: (1) those representing distances travelled along the highway; (2) those which can be used to restrict the progress of an opponent, representing for example traffic lights at the red, or an accident, or the imposition of a speed limit; (3) those which can be used to annul the restrictions imposed by the cards or pieces of the second category, representing for example traffic lights at the green, repair facilities or the end of a speed limit; (4) those which represent priority rights and depict for example a fire engine or an ambulance; and (5) those which give a player immunity from the restrictions imposed by the cards or pieces of the second category.; The game is played by dealing some of the cards or pieces to the players, and keeping the remainder in a pool, each player in turn then drawing a card or piece from the pool and either discarding or displaying a card or piece in its place. When playing with cards, a box subdivided into two compartments may be provided, one compartment being for discarded cards and the other for holding the pool, the latter compartment having notches in its sides to facilitate the withdrawal of cards therefrom.
