484,052. Wobbler mechanism. HULSEBOS, W., and NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP HULSEMO. July 19, 1937, No. 19979. [Class 80 (iii)] In wobbler mechanism having a wobbler supported on an inclined crank-pin, the wobbler is provided with two pairs of co-operating annular pressure surfaces the corresponding members of which face in opposite directions and are adapted to resist axial loads on the wobbler in both directions thus rendering the mechanism particularly suitable for doubleacting engines or pumps. The wobbler 1 is supported on the inclined crank-pin 5 of the crank-shaft 6, and has an inner annular surface 7 and an outer annular surface 20 these surfaces facing in opposite directions and being shaped as truncated cones the generatrices of which intersect the centre line of the crank-shaft at an angle # equal to 90 minus half the angle alpha between the inclined crank-pin and the centre line.; The surface 7 coacts with a surface 8 in the frame 13 to take thrusts exerted towards the right. The surface 20 coacts with a surface 9 formed on a funnel-shaped member 11 to take thrusts exerted towards the left. The surface 20 is formed on a removable ring 14. The wobbler is locked against rotation by bevel gears 16, 17. The outer surface 18 of the gear 16 may roll on the inner surface 19 of the member 11 so as to take radial thrusts. In a modification, the gears 16, 17 are omitted and the annular conical surfaces 7, 8 or 9, 20 are corrugated. Specifications 350,308 and 440,545 are referred to.
