302,568. Soc. Durand et Pilven. Dec. J7, 1927, [Convention date]. Screw fastenings. - A device for preventing theft described as applied to a closure for motorcar petrol tanks, but applicable to other uses suchas securing spare wheels &c. comprises a screwed closure plug 10 engaging threads on the tank inlet &c. 13, and covered by a cap 14 norm- - ally freely rotatable on, and preventing direct access to, the plug. Projections 15 on the cap are normally held clear of recesses 16 in the plug by the spring-shot bolts 18 of a lock 17 carried by the cap. When the bolts are retracted by key, the cap may be moved to engage projections 15 in recesses 16 so that rotation of the cap unscrews the plug. Spring-pressed balls 25 may be provided to lessen friction between plug 10 and cap 14.; The keyhole 20 may be surrounded by a rib 23 against which a pivotally mounted) cover 21 may be pressed by a spring (not shown) to prevent access of water &c. The plug may have an air-inlet (not shown) also serving as a seat on which a valve carried by the cap seats when the cap is in the raised position, Fig. 2, to prevent flow of petrol through, and theft from, the carburettor pipe. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes a modification, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), wherein the cap 14 is rotatable on a member 35 which is normally rotatable in a member 34, having screw-threaded engagement with a nipple 33 on the plug. Member 35 may be locked to member 34 by a key 36 which, when rotated, screws member 34 on to the nipple so lowering cap 14 until clutch projections &c. 32 on cap and plug become engaged.; Rotation of the cap then operates the lug, which as shown consists of a threaded ring 29 rigidly secured to a cup 30. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
