The present invention is a rigging, in particular for boats, the high-efficiency aerofoil of which is load-bearing in addition to being propulsive. This rigging is characterised in that only the orientation of the plane in which the aerofoil is situated is controlled, the aerofoil itself positioning itself automatically in the optimum position within the selected plane, by virtue of a dihedral and/or one or more fins. In order to do this, the wing 1 is mounted absolutely freely on a pivot 2, 3, the axis of which is perpendicular to said wing, the pivot itself being integral with a control plate. This rigging has all the advantages of a load-bearing rigging equipped with a high-efficiency wing, in particular it enables a boat to lift completely out of the water, and in particular control is simplified greatly. For windsurfing, the plate is held in the hands and, where necessary, by a harness.
