The invention describes a high frequency surgical instrument for cutting and/or coagulating biological tissues, comprising a metallic sleeve 12 in which a metallic needle 11 serving as the cutting electrode is arranged so that it can be pushed out in the axial direction and is electrically insulated relative to the sleeve, the sleeve and/or an adjoining shaft 13 having such a length that the instrument can be used for endoscopic surgery. The end of the sleeve and/or the shaft proximal relative to the patient including the needle electrode used for cutting is bent about an angle W from the axial direction of the shaft. The sleeve including the shaft is equipped with an electrical insulation 10 on its outer surface excluding the front face 14 of the sleeve serving as the coagulation electrode or as the neutral electrode.
